Joi Baba Felunath (The Elephant God, 1979) A Bengali-language mystery film written and directed by the legendary Satyajit Ray, Joi Baba Felunath is a landmark entry in the iconic Feluda detective series. A sequel to Sonar Kella (1974), it adapts Ray's own novel and unfolds within the ancient, labyrinthine lanes of Varanasi, one of India's holiest and most atmospheric cities. The story follows the astute private investigator, Prodosh Chandra Mitra, better known as Feluda, on vacation in Varanasi with his cousin-cum-assistant Topshe and their endearing friend, the crime-fiction writer Lalmohan Ganguly (Jatayu).
