Film TitleGhare Baire (The Home and the World), 1985, India, Bengali
Scene DescriptionSandip's intensity as a nationalist leader becomes suspect with certain glaring inconsistencies in his behaviour, the first of which appears in this scene: his unshakebale preference for foreign cigarettes. When tea is served, there is a slight jocularity about Sandip saying that he'll take one teaspoon of sugar if it is imported, two if its local. It is an indication of what seems to be a dilution of his public commitment in his personal preferences. (9/39)
