Film TitleGhare Baire (The Home and the World), 1985, India, Bengali
Scene DescriptionNikhil's admiration for Bimala is plenty. She keeps herself abreast about the current political situation and clearly wants to extend help to the cause. Nikhil doesn't patronise her but makes plain that he would not side with the bonfire brigade. However, he wants Bimala to leave the purdah and meet his friends - one in particular, Sandip. Sandip will come to stay at their house. He gives a succinct summary of Sandip's work for the movement with reverential affection despite the fact that he cannot agree with Sandip's political ambitions. He also mentions a strain of his character that makes Sandip especially appealing to women and openly suggests that Bimala will like him. (5/39)
