"अब दिल्ली दूर नहीं" (1957) के निर्माता थे राज कपूर और इसका निर्देशन अमर कुमार ने किया था। इस फ़िल्म की पटकथा राजिंदर सिंह बेदी और मुहाफ़िज़ हैदर ने लिखी थी। फ़िल्म में मोतीलाल, याकूब, अनवर हुसैन, जगदीप और एक छोटी भूमिका में अमजद खान जैसे कलाकारों ने अभिनय किया था। उस दौर के लिए इस फ़िल्म की कहानी को काफ़ी प्रयोगात्मक माना जा सकता है। उस दौर के मुख्यधारा हिन्दी सिनेमा के पारंपरिक ढांचे से हटकर बनाई गई इस फ़िल्म में कोई रोमांटिक ट्रैक नहीं था और न ही पारंपरिक किस्म के नायक-नायिका के किरदार थे। हालाँकि इस फ़िल्म को बड़ी व्यावसायिक कामयाबी नहीं मिली, फिर भी इसने दर्शकों को सिनेमा देखने का एक नया और रोचक अहसास दिया। फ़िल्म की कहानी के केंद्र में एक छोटा बच्चा था, जो दिल्ली की ओर सफ़र पर निकला है। दिल्ली वो इसलिए जा रहा है ताकि राजधानी में प्रधानमंत्री जवाहरलाल नेहरू से मिलकर उनके सामने अपने पिता के लिए न्याय की गुहार लगा सके। असल में उसके पिता को एक ऐसे अपराध में मौत की सज़ा सुना दी गई है, जो उन्होंने किया ही नहीं है। आज़ादी के दसवें साल में देश के प्रधानमंत्री से एक बच्चे की न्याय की गुहार की इस कथा में राज्य संस्था से उसके नागरिकों की उम्मीदों के...
