The film Sikkim, funded by the King of independent Sikkim, is unavailable in public domain and was screened only once before the Government of India banned it in 1975. The film professes the socio-cultural realities of the hill tribes and the potential threats to its sovereignty. The state ban was imposed after India annexed Sikkim and lifted in 2010.
