Introduction
Main Nashe Mein Hoon (1959) was directed by Naresh Saigal and marked the second and final release from Varma Pictures, an affiliate of Varma Films, following their earlier production Night Club (1958). The film starred Raj Kapoor, Mala Sinha, Nishi, Mubarak, Leela Chitnis, Nazir Hussain, and Helen in significant roles.

फ़िल्म में सिनेमैटोग्राफी का ज़िम्मा कृष्ण सहगल के पास था और सम्पादन बी. एस. ग्लैड ने संभाला था। फ़िल्म के लिए संगीत शंकर-जयकिशन की सदाबहार जोड़ी ने तैयार किया था। इस फ़िल्म के लिए गानों के बोल गीतकार शैलेंद्र और हसरत जयपुरी ने लिखे थे। फ़िल्म में महान शायर मिर्ज़ा ग़ालिब की लिखी नज़्म भी गीत के बतौर इस्तेमाल की गई थी।
फ़िल्म की कहानी शराब की लत और वासना में डूबे इंसान की बुराइयों को दिखाती है। इसमें यह भी बताया गया है कि कैसे पारिवार का साथ इंसान के लिए ज़रूरी होता है और उसे इन बुराइयों से बचाता है। फ़िल्म के मुख्य किरदार मोहन खन्ना (राज कपूर) का ताल्लुक एक ऐसे रईस परिवार से है जिसमें शराब की लत पहले से रही है। मोहन के दादाजी भी इस लत के चलते बर्बाद हो गए। मोहन को भी शराब पीने की लत है। इसी चक्कर में मोहन मिस रीटा (निशि) नामक एक चालाक स्त्री के जाल में फंस जाता है। मिस रीटा अपने स्वार्थ के लिए मोहन का इस्तेमाल करती है और उससे खूब पैसे ऐंठती है। दरअसल वो मोहन के ज़रिये उसके पिता जज कुंदनलाल खन्ना से बदला लेना चाहती है।
इधर घर में मोहन की फ़िक्र करनेवाले लोगों में एक ख़ास पारिवारिक सेवक है। यह वृद्ध सेवक दो हत्याओं के आरोप में जेल की सज़ा काटने के बाद हाल ही में रिहा हुआ है। इस किरदार की आपराधिक पृष्ठभूमि और नेकनीयती से उपजा द्वंद्व कहानी को एक दिलचस्प मोड़ देता है। यह अच्छाई और बुराई, लालच और मुक्ति जैसे दार्शनिक सवालों के बीच बहस बन जाती है।
