Satyen Bose's Dosti is an engaging drama film that centres on the lives of two boys with disabilities, Ramu (Sushil Kumar) and Mohan (Sudhir Kumar), who forge a deep friendship while grappling with the harsh realities of urban poverty. Ramu, who is physically disabled, and Mohan, who is blind, meet by chance in the city streets and become each other's only support as they navigate life's struggles. The film presents both disability and destitution unflinchingly while avoiding romantic subplots or the typical hero-villain dynamics in favour of a serious engagement with the social neglect of vulnerable children. Released at a time when such themes were under-explored in Indian cinema, Dosti acknowledged the plight of children as a pressing social concern. Its raw representation of friendship, perseverance, and human dignity struck a chord with audiences and critics alike, earning it six Filmfare...
