The film features a notable ensemble cast, including Vimal Ahuja, Surekha, David, Irshad Panjatan, A. K. Hangal, Madhukar, Kuljit Pal, and introduces debutantes Jalal Agha and Persis Khambatta in significant roles. Also making appearances are Yunus Parvez, Akhtar Siraj, and Prithviraj Kapoor, who plays himself in a brief cameo.
Musically, the film boasts a memorable soundtrack composed by J.P. Kaushik with lyrics by Hasan Kamal. At the 1967 National Film Awards, the film was honoured with the National Film Award for Best Cinematography, awarded to Ramachandra for his striking visual composition. Despite this critical acclaim, the film failed to perform well at the box office and did not achieve commercial success.
The film also marked the screen debut of Persis Khambatta, who played the role of Lily, a cabaret dancer. Her performance earned her the Best New Actress Award, and she received initial praise for her screen presence. However, disillusioned by what she perceived as the unprofessionalism of the Indian film industry, Khambatta soon left for London to pursue a career in modeling. Her journey eventually led her to Hollywood, where she achieved international recognition.
Though Bambai Raat Ki Bahon Mein may not have been a commercial triumph, it remains a notable entry in Indian cinema for its bold themes, striking cinematography, and the launch of a future international star.
