आन मिलो सजना में एक आदर्श रोमांटिक ड्रामा फ़िल्म के तमाम तत्व मौजूद थे। अपने यादगार गीतों, नाच-गाने और दिलचस्प कहानी के चलते फ़िल्म को बड़ी व्यावसायिक कामयाबी मिली। फ़िल्म की कहानी 'गरीब बनाम अमीर' वाली क्लासिक कथायुक्ति काम में लेती थी, साथ ही नकारात्मक किरदार के साथ बुना नाटकीय मोड़ भी दर्शकों को खूब भाया। टिकट खिड़की पर फ़िल्म खूब सफल रही।
आन मिलो सजना इसलिए भी ख़ास है कि यह राजेश खन्ना की साल 1969 से 1971 के बीच लगातार 17 हिट फ़िल्मों की शृंखला का हिस्सा है। इन कामयाब फ़िल्मों की सूची में उनकी अकेले नायक के तौर पर फ़िल्मों के साथ-साथ मर्यादा (1971) और अंदाज़ (1971) जैसी एक से ज़्यादा नायकों वाली फ़िल्में भी शामिल हैं। साल 1970 में राजेश खन्ना का जलवा ऐसा था कि दूसरी फ़िल्मों के प्रदर्शन के दौरान भी जब आन मिलो सजना का ट्रेलर चलता और उसमें राजेश खन्ना पर्दे पर आते तो जोशीले दर्शकों की सीटियाँ और तालियाँ रुकती ही नहीं।
इस फ़िल्म की कामयाबी में लक्ष्मीकांत-प्यारेलाल की जोड़ी के संगीत और आनंद बक्शी के लिखे गीतों का भी ख़ास योगदान रहा। किशोर कुमार और लता मंगेशकर का गाया युगल गीत "अच्छा तो हम चलते हैं" तो फ़ौरन ही देशभर में सनसनी की तरह फ़ैल गया और लोकप्रियता की चोटी पर जा पहुँचा। दूसरे गाने भी जैसे मोहम्मद रफ़ी और लता मंगेशकर का गाया "रंग रंग के फूल खिले", किशोर कुमार का गाया "जवानी ओ दीवानी", लता मंगेशकर का गाया "तेरे कारण मेरे साजन" और आशा भोंसले का गाया "पलट मेरी जान, तेरे क़ुर्बान" खूब पसन्द किये गए और आज भी चाहनेवालों के दिल के करीब हैं।
