Introduction

The Film Festival Cinefan was launched in Delhi in 1999 by Aruna Vasudev and acquired by Osian's Connoisseurs of Art in 2004 as part of Neville Tuli's vision of building an integrated Film House for Osian's. The Festival thus changed its title to Osian's-Cinefan. The 8th edition of the Festival had a special focus on the Asian and Arab cinema under the category Asian Frescos and Arabesque. The edition also featured tributes to Stanley Kwan and Ritwik Ghatak. The Middle Path focused on the depiction of Buddhism in cinema and screened films such as The Light of Asia (1925) to the recent releases of the year such as Milarepa (2006). The third edition of Talent Campus was also held in collaboration with Max Mueller Bhavan, the Berlin International Film Festival and the Berlinale Talent Campus.

                          Director's Bio

Born in 1964, Philippe Aractingi left Lebanon at the age of 19 and went to London and Paris with the aim of becoming a film director. He returned two years later and was hired by the Lebanese Television Network. He produced a TV programme, Mosaic, in French, and made documentaries and short films about the war. He went to France once again where he worked on one of the top-rated TV programmes as well as on films for France 3 and TF1. He also made films for Discovery Channel and several other channels in different countries. Autobus is his first feature.

                          Director's Note

To me, Bosta is a journey into the memory of Lebanon, the memory of these dancers…it's also a journey about memory itself. The plot is only secondary to the journey ... a pretext almost.
In a certain way, it is also a search for the father figure…The father figure is omnipresent in the film, and when I say father, to me it means heritage and memory….In Lebanon today, we don't question our history, we don't have a common history. We don't even have a unified history textbook!
