Introduction

Vish Kanya (1943) Directed by Kidar Nath Sharma, the film starred Sadhona Bose, Kamala Chatterjee, Prithviraj Kapoor, Leela Mishra, and Surendra in prominent roles. It is also noted for its evocative music, composed by the celebrated Khemchand Prakash.
Inspired by the legend of the Vishkanya—a figure rooted in ancient Indian literature and folklore—the story centres on the concept of young women trained as assassins. These women were believed to have been rendered immune to poison over time, their bodies allegedly becoming lethal weapons capable of killing through touch or a kiss.
Though specific plot details are scarce, Vish Kanya is known to be a dramatic tale, weaving the myth of the Vishkanya into its narrative. At its core, the story follows a young girl named Nisha, who becomes a Vishkanya to avenge the murder of her parents—a classic revenge drama infused with mythological intrigue.
The Vishkanya concept has a historical foundation in ancient Indian texts, where such women were said to have been used as political tools or weapons of assassination. This compelling theme has been revisited in various Indian films and television series over the years, including the TV serial Vishkanya: Ek Anokhi Prem Kahani.
The film's soundtrack features memorable songs such as:Lada Kar Ankh Ab Pachhta Rahe Hai – sung by Gautami Tadimalla; Preet Ki Jyot Jalakar Chup Hai" – performed by Surendra; and Woh Chand Ban Muskura Rahe Hai – also sung by Gautami Tadimalla
Due to the limited archival data on films from that era, there is no definitive information available regarding the film's box office performance.
