Body of Work

Set against the backdrop of 21st century urban Kolkata, The Companion's gripping tale of extra-marital affairs could have taken place in any metropolitan city. The story begins with the male protagonist, Koushik, and his friend Meeta checking out of a hotel after a weekend getaway. Their car is involved in an accident and Meeta dies on the spot. Though Koushik suffers multiple injuries, he survives. And that is when the film really begins. His wife, Kaberi, rushes to the hospital and discovers that her husband is critically injured. Overcome with grief, agony and anger, she refuses at first to take care of him or even to sign the hospital papers. The feminist in her hates the idea of nursing the man who has betrayed her. She wants to file for divorce and even fights with her brother-in-law. But things slowly change once Koushik is back home … The Companion is a poignant film that takes a different approach to the much-dealt-with subject of infidelity.
