Konkona Sen Sharma
Konkona Sen Sharma (born 3 December 1979) is an acclaimed Indian actor and filmmaker whose work has significantly shaped contemporary Bengali and Hindi cinema. Renowned for her nuanced performances across parallel and mainstream cinema, she has established herself as one of the most accomplished actors of her generation. A recipient of two National Film Awards, three Filmfare Awards, and several other prestigious honours, she has consistently been recognised for her artistic versatility and commitment to meaningful cinema. Born into an eminent cultural family, Sen Sharma is the daughter of filmmaker and actor Aparna Sen and science writer and journalist Mukul Sharma. Her maternal grandfather, Chidananda Dasgupta, was a distinguished film critic, scholar, and co-founder of the Calcutta Film Society. She completed her schooling at Modern High School for Girls, Kolkata, and graduated with a Bachelor's degree in English from St. Stephen's College, Delhi, in 2001.
Sen Sharma began her screen career as a child actor in Indira (1983) and made her debut in a leading role with the Bengali thriller Ek Je Aachhe Kanya (2000). Her breakthrough came with Aparna Sen's Mr. and Mrs. Iyer (2002), in which her portrayal of a Tamil Brahmin woman navigating communal violence earned her the National Film Award for Best Actress and established her as a major talent in Indian cinema.
Her entry into Hindi cinema with Page 3 (2005) marked the beginning of an exceptionally successful phase.
