Body of Work

Teevra Madyam (1974)

The film is set in the late 60s. shama, Ravi and Bobby belong to a Leftist student group. Vikram is their leader. Shama is passionately involved with music. Vikram feels that her music is feudal and irrelevant to the times. He would like Shama to be more involved with active politics. She refuses in the beginning. She feels that there is nothing wrong with her involvement with music as it is a deeply spiritual and sensous experience for her. She does not need to give up music for the sake of politics. Ravi, her boyfriend, does not agree with her. Later Vikram who is leading a strike is arrested and Shama takes his place, but only 'under protest'.
