Balachandran lives alone in a lodge and works in a fertilizer company. He has a passion for literature and his room is stacked with hundreds of books. He begins work on a novel, but he writes for himself, out of passion, not with the intention of publishing. A noted writer, C.P Vasudevan, praises Balachandran's un_nished novel, and a small-time publisher, Sivadasan, wishes to publish it. However, Balachandran suddenly runs into a writer's block. Meanwhile, Padma, a college friend who had admired him many years ago, comes back to Kerala from Mumbai after the breakup of her marriage. One day, she calls him, triggering a new chapter in Balachandran's life. He also attempts to help a poor girl who is seriously ill. The threads come together in an unexpected climax…
