Teen Kanya (Three Daughters), 1961, India, Bengali
Scene Description Upon her return in the morning, after loitering alone on her wedding night, Mrinmoyee's mother-in-law locks her in the bedroom to punish her childish redundance. Mrinmoyee turns riotous to get out. She ruins the whole room and dismantles Amulya's books. Hearing the noises, Amulya comes back to his room and finds her temptestuous. He orders her to get his beloved books in order. But Amulya, despite feeling at a loss, isn't resentful of her. He finds her quirks adorable. But he has also come to terms with the fact that she hasn't accepted him. He conveys that will be leaving for Calcutta, and leaving her at her mother's house, a declaration that stuns her. Amulya asks her to write him a letter if he is needed. (5/7)
