Scene Description A distinct change comes in the nature of the film as the settings become external, a spot in the hills where the three stop for a picnic. The drive from the bungalow escalates the tensions for Amitabha. The camera concentrates on his face that gets more and more contorted, nauseated by emotional strain. He can't stand Bimal's closeness with Karuna and assumes that she cannot either. On a last bid to talk to her, as she plainly thwarts his futile attempts, Amitabha writes her a note, telling her that he will wait for her at the railway station if she decides to come with him. Karuna keeps looking over the rocks. (9/17)
