Scene Description Amitabha restlessly walks in the living room, the distressing memory lingering on his mind when he knocks down a vase. The sound brings Karuna from her bedroom into the living room. Amitabha tries to talk to her but she lets his words bounce off her. He wants to know if she is happy - already assuming that she is not. With a touch of sarcasm, she says if he doesn't find peace without the answer, then let it be a mystery. She offers to give him the sleeping pill if it helps, affirming to some extant Amitabha's suspicion that her marriage and life is underlined by discontent - she is unhappy. She tells him not to take more than two pills from the bottle. "And what if I do?" he asks, to which she replies, "I don't think you will".(4/17)
