Scene Description In the dramatic highpoint of the film, the escort woman Kauna who is Sukumar's sister masquerading as Juthika reaches the door of Mr Goenka's hotel room with Somnath. Somnath keeps calling her Kauna and requests her to drop the deal. She reminds him that her name is Juthika and she is committed to her business. It is evident that abject poverty has led her into prostitution. Unlike Somnath, Kauna has had to come to terms with the reality of the trade she has chosen. She wouldn't beg. Somnath is ridden with utter guilt and shame, pimping his friend's sister whom he knows since she was a child. It is a moment of reckoning where the man meets himself, trading his conscience for money at the cost of people like Kauna. (2!/27)
