Film TitleJana Aranya (The Middleman), 1976, India, Bengali
Scene DescriptionSomnath is at the government's employment exchange office, applying for a job with hundreds of other unemployed young men waiting in queue. The film is set in the depressive period of 1960s and 70s when West Bengal was rife with widespread civil and political unrest, marked by the Naxalbari movement and state crackdown on Maoist revolutionaries.
