Introduction

Lal Bangla (1966) is a suspense thriller laced with romance, drama, and intrigue. The film stars the legendary Prithviraj Kapoor and Jayanthi in prominent roles, with Sujit Kumar leading the cast. Produced and directed by Jugal Kishore, the film also features an ensemble including Kumkum, Jeevan, Sheikh Mukhtar, and Shashikala.
The story centres around Mangoo (played by Sheikh Mukhtar), a man recently released from prison who reinvents himself as the wealthy Seth Din Dayal. As he attempts to leave his criminal past behind, he discovers that his daughter Malti (Jayanthi) is in love with Raja (Sujit Kumar), the son of the very police superintendent responsible for his imprisonment. This sets the stage for a dramatic conflict, as Mangoo's shady dealings threaten his new identity and the future of his daughter's relationship.
In a parallel thread, Mangoo's plans begin to unravel when his true motives are exposed. His attempt to eliminate Raja leads to his capture, bringing his double life crashing down.
The music for Lal Bangla was composed by Usha Khanna, with lyrics by Gulshan Bawra and others. The soundtrack featured a number of melodious tracks that gained moderate popularity, including Aa Aa Bahon Mein Aaja sung by Asha Bhosle, Haseen Wadiyon Fazaon Se Kah Do by Mohammed Rafi, Khushiyan Hazaar Leke performed by Usha Khanna and Suman Kalyanpur, Roothe Ho Sanam To Phir Kya Hai and Sunai De Na De Tumko by Suman Kalyanpur, and Chand Ko Kya Maloom by Mukesh.
Despite its intriguing premise and a strong cast, Lal Bangla failed to perform at the box office, ultimately becoming a commercial disappointment.

लाल बंगला (1966) एक सस्पेंस थ्रिलर फ़िल्म है जिसका कथानक रोमांस, ड्रामा और रहस्य से मिलकर बना है। फ़िल्म में दिग्गज अभिनेता पृथ्वीराज कपूर और जयंती मुख्य भूमिकाएँ निभा रहे हैं जबकि मुख्य किरदार में सुजीत कुमार हैं। इस फ़िल्म का निर्माण और निर्देशन जुगल किशोर ने किया था। फ़िल्म के अन्य प्रमुख कलाकारों में कुमकुम, जीवन, शेख मुख़्तार और शशिकला जैसे अभिनेता शामिल हैं।
फ़िल्म की कहानी मंगू (शेख मुख़्तार) के किरदार के साथ आगे बढ़ती है। मंगू हाल ही में जेल से रिहा हुआ है। जेल से छूटकर वह अमीर सेठ दीनदयाल का भेस धर लेता है। वह अपने आपराधिक अतीत से पीछा छुड़ाने की कोशिश करता है, पर तभी उसे पता चलता है कि उसकी बेटी मालती (जयंती) जिस राजा (सुजीत कुमार) नामक नौजवान से प्रेम करती है, वो उसी पुलिस अधीक्षक का बेटा है जिसने उसे जेल भेजा था। यहाँ से फ़िल्म की कहानी में एक नाटकीय टकराव की नींव पड़ती है। अब मंगू के संदिग्ध इरादे और उसकी बदमाश हरकतें उसकी नई साफ़-सुधरी पहचान और उसकी बेटी के रिश्ते के भविष्य को भी खतरे में डाल देते हैं।
समांतर घटते घटनाक्रम में मंगू की चालाकियाँ वहाँ बिखरने लगती हैं जब उसके असली इरादे उजागर हो जाते हैं। राजा को मारने की उसकी कोशिश उसे वापस गिरफ़्तारी तक पहुँचा देती है और उसका दोहरा चरित्र सबके सामने उजागर हो जाता है।
इस फ़िल्म के लिए संगीत उषा खन्ना ने तैयार किया था और इसके गीतों के बोल गुलशन बावरा तथा अन्य गीतकारों ने लिखे थे। फ़िल्म में कई सुरीले गीत शामिल थे जिन्हें औसत लोकप्रियता हासिल हुई। इनमें आशा भोंसले का गाया “आ आ बाहों में आजा”, मोहम्मद रफ़ी का गाया “हसीन वादियों फ़ज़ाओं से कह दो”, उषा खन्ना व सुमन कल्याणपुर का गाया “ख़ुशियाँ हज़ार लेकर”, सुमन कल्याणपुर का गाया “रूठे हो सनम तो फिर क्या है” और “सुनाई दे न दे तुमको” तथा मुकेश की आवाज़ में “चाँद को क्या मालूम” जैसे गीत प्रमुख थे।
अपने दिलचस्प कथानक और दमदार कलाकारों की मौजूदगी के बावजूद लाल बंगला टिकट खिड़की पर कामयाब नहीं हो सकी और आखिर में यह एक व्यावसायिक असफलता साबित हुई।
