Introduction
Daku Mansoor (1934), also known as Mansoor the Dacoit and Karishma-e-Kudrat in Hindi/Urdu, is a costume action drama directed by Nitin Bose and produced by New Theatres Ltd., Calcutta. The music was composed by R. C. Boral. The cast featured notable names including K. L. Saigal, Uma Shashi, Prithviraj Kapoor, Husn Banu, Pahari Sanyal, and Nemo.
Based on a Bengali folktale, the story follows Mansoor (K. L. Saigal), a feared dacoit who first falls in love with Husn Pari (Husn Banu, in her debut role), the sister of a corrupt caliph. After gaining notoriety, Mansoor escapes to a new town and is taken in by a merchant, Ali, whose daughter Meher (Uma Shashi) falls for him. However, Mansoor is still emotionally tied to Husn Pari. When he learns she is being forced into marriage, he intervenes, leading to a violent confrontation. In the scuffle, Husn Pari is fatally wounded by a dagger meant for Mansoor. Shaken by her death, he renounces his criminal life and ultimately unites with Meher.

डाकू मंसूर (1934) के निर्देशक नितिन बोस थे और इसका नाम अंग्रेज़ी में मंसूर द डकाइट तथा उर्दू में करिश्मा-ए-क़ुदरत रखा गया था। यह एक रोमांच से भरपूर कॉस्ट्यूम ड्रामा फ़िल्म थी जिसका निर्माण कलकत्ता के मशहूर 'न्यू थिएटर्स लिमिटेड' के बैनर तले हुआ था। इस फ़िल्म के लिए संगीत आर. सी. बोराल ने तैयार किया था। फ़िल्म में प्रमुख भूमिकाओं में कुंदन लाल सहगल, उमा शशि, पृथ्वीराज कपूर, हुस्न बानो, पहाड़ी सान्याल और नेमो जैसे अभिनेता काम कर रहे थे।
इस फ़िल्म की कहानी एक बांग्ला लोककथा पर आधारित थी। कथा का मुख्य पात्र मंसूर (कुंदन लाल सहगल) एक कुख्यात डाकू है जिसका दिल एक भ्रष्ट खलीफ़ा की बहन हुस्न परी पर आ जाता है। इलाके भर में बदनामी होने के बाद मंसूर किसी नए शहर की ओर भाग जाता है। नए शहर में अली नाम का एक सौदागर उसे शरण देता है। इसी सौदागर अली की बेटी मेहर (उमा शशि) मंसूर से प्रेम करने लगती है। लेकिन मंसूर अब भी हुस्न परी को भुला नहीं पाया है और उसी के प्यार में तड़पता है। एक दिन जब उसे ये पता चलता है कि हुस्न परी की ज़बरदस्ती शादी करवाई जा रही है तो वह उसे बचाने पहुँचता है और एक खूनी टकराव में उलझ जाता है। इसी टकराव के दौरान मंसूर पर चलाया गया खंजर हुस्न परी को लग जाता है और उसकी मौत हो जाती है। हुस्न परी की इस अकालमृत्यु से व्यथित होकर मंसूर अपराध का रास्ता हमेशा के लिए त्याग देता है और आखिर में मेहर का हो जाता है।
इस फ़िल्म के कथानक की भावनात्मक गहराई, मुख्य भूमिका में सहगल के दमदार अभिनय और राय चंद बोराल के कर्णप्रिय संगीत ने दर्शकों पर गहरा असर छोड़ा। साथ ही उमा शशि के फ़िल्मी करियर का प्रभावशाली अन्दाज़ में आगाज़ हुआ। प्रेम, पश्चात्ताप और हृदय परिवर्तन की यह कथा तत्कालीन दर्शकों को खूब पसन्द आई।
