Introduction
Border (1997) is an Indian Hindi-language epic war film written, produced, and directed by J. P. Dutta. Based on the historic Battle of Longewala during the Indo–Pakistani War of 1971, the film dramatizes one of the most celebrated military engagements in Indian history. Featuring Sunny Deol in the lead role, the film boasts an ensemble cast including Jackie Shroff, Suniel Shetty, Akshaye Khanna, Kulbhushan Kharbanda, Puneet Issar, Sudesh Berry, Tabu, Pooja Bhatt, Rakhee Gulzar, Sharbani Mukherjee, Sapna Bedi, and Rajiv Goswami. The film's music, composed by Anu Malik with lyrics by Javed Akhtar, remains one of its enduring strengths. Its soundtrack includes the iconic patriotic song Sandese Aate Hain (Sonu Nigam and Roop Kumar Rathod), which became one of the most celebrated Hindi film songs of all time, as well as Mere Dushman Mere Bhai (Hariharan), noted for its poignant message of humanity amid war.
