Mani Kaul's tribute to his homeland Kashmir is also an exploration of sound and image that is pronounced a “filmscape” in the opening titles of the film. The film marks a transformation of volumes of indoor and outdoor spaces that become dynamic once the camera is placed on a shikara, hot air balloon, a helicopter or simply a trolley. Meanwhile, the live performance of musician Nancy LeshKulkarni in a shikara, contrasts these spaces against the development of a raga on the cello.
