Ubume is a mysterious film based on the best-selling detective novel by Natsuhiko Kyogoku, one of the most popular authors in Japan. The story is set in the late 1950s' Tokyo where people are terrified by a mysterious occurrence. A woman from a wealthy family has been pregnant for 20 months and her husband has been missing for a year after disappearing from a locked room in the hospital. Novelist Tatsumi Sekiguchi gets involved in the case and starts investigating with a private detective. As he gets closer to the truth new mysteries arise.
