Body of Work

The Dawn is Oman's first ever feature film. The story takes place in a coastal town of contemporary Oman where the locals are known for fishing and boat-building. As it turns out, work in these two professions has started to decrease. Most young men have deserted the town for the capital in search of work. They claim that the sea's fortune has run short and that a container of fish is not enough to fulfill their dreams and ambitions. For long, they face crises which they accept as the work of destiny. But they soon realise that these are man-made. In the story, a fishing community waits for a young fisherman who had suddenly disappeared. Zaher's whereabouts are not known. Some believe he is dead. But everyone waits for him, his fiancee, father, friends and the rest of the town.
