Body of Work

The story of Strings takes place in the context of one of the mega events of the Hindu faith - the Maha Kumbh, which attracts hundreds of thousands of devotees to the historic city of Nasik. The film follows Warren Hastings, a British youth who has been persuaded to experience the event at the behest of a family friend, Maya, a typical urban Indian girl. But Hastings has another reason for being in Nasik. He is intrigued by the diary of his grandfather who had served in India during the British Raj. In Nasik he meets Krishna, the daughter of a temple priest and the two fall in love. How can they be together in the unusual circumstances in which they find themselves?
