A film within a film in which the travails of the director as he encounters blockades (in the form of the producer, the scriptwriter and artists) at every step seem to mimic the problems which his hero also faces. Juggling comedy and romance, the film uses popular cinematic codes like songs, fights and gags to describe both the joy and the pain of filmmaking which, much like romance, is both magical and strangely unsatisfying.
