Scene Description Seemabaddha is a telling criticism of Calcutta's business elite and offers a thinly veiled warning to people about their kind of values. The film is set against the backdrop of the Naxalite movement when young men were indiscriminately getting shot down by the police on suspicion of Maoist associations but pivots on a young man on the other side of the tracks. Frequent sound of firing guns and bombs blasting in the city punctuate the quaint silence of the central character Shyamalendu Chatterjee's opulent apartment. The film moves through three spheres of action : Shyamalendu's home, his office and his social domain, all three bound by the company- Hindustan Peters where he is the sales manager of fans division and aspiring to be promoted as the marketing director. The still captures two members of the company's board of directors, Barun Roy and Nilamber. The former is a loudmouth buffoon who rubbed shoulders with the imperial masters and obtained a knighthood.(1/24)
