Scene Description We see Ghasiram run in horror from the dead chamar; a chamar is untouchable enough but a dead one is even more so. Then we see the Gond kneeling beside a fellow human being, one whom he knows to have suffered most unjustly, feeling his upper body to try to find a pulse. With this simple picture, the superstitious and inhumane brahman is instantly diminished. (13/24)
