Scene Description On his visit to another former student's clinic, Priyagopal collapses on the stairs. While Subrata and Sarojini are eagerly waiting for Arati's return, who is late because of a tram strike in the city, they hear a motorcar stopping at the doorway. It is the emaciated Priyagopal escorted by his student. When Arati returns, the old father becomes repentant for his unsavoury behaviour towards her but she is benign and forgiving as ever. They reconcile. (14/17)
