Film Title

Ghare Baire (The Home and the World), 1985, India, Bengali

Scene Description The schoolmaster is remarkably straight in accusing Sandip as the root of problems in Shukhshayar. The so-called leaders who are too self-interested and motivated to have a career in politics do not care that students are dropping out with idle louts and layabouts who have done something as appalling as pelting a stone and severely injuring Miss Gilby. The movement has no discretion for the poor who rely on selling and consuming the cheap imported goods. It has evolved to be a destructive force, unlike how Nikhil had endeavoured, but albeit failed, to foster local industries and build a sustainable economy by enterprising new industries for manufacturing local soap, matchboxes, sugar, cloth and so on.
