Scene DescriptionKhoka gets sick. Instead of seeking medical treatment, Kalikinkar puts the sick child in Doyamoyee's lap turning to divine intervention of the goddess to deliver his dear grandchild back to health. This is perhaps the height of Kalikinkar's delusional psychoses and an imposition of his own power through the figure of the goddess- that seeks triumph over rationality and medical science. Doya, who has seen the miracle work once, wishes it to work on Khoka and agrees to keep him for the night. But a grim tragedy strikes when the child dies. (28/30)
