Scene Description In his routine conversations with Doya, Kalikinkar recapitulates that he had willed to become saint and cut away from the trappings of domesticity. It is Doya's advent in his household that had overturned this wish. He repudiates his son, almost verges on comparing Umaprasad to himself, enquiring if the former knows how to cherish her as he does. Taking it for an old father's banter, Doya gets awkward and runs out of his room. (9/30)
