Scene Description After following him from the railway station, Byomkesh sneaks into Dr Das's concealed residence at 9, Masterda Lane. His tenant Rosy catches Byomkesh in the act and he has no choice but to forcefully lock her up in the same room while he intercepts the tape-recorder with an aside of illegal documents and a surprising bulk of precious jewellery. Rosie, undaunted by the revolver or the prying footsteps of her friend calling for her, flaunts the handkerchief she has skilfully taken off after Byomkesh tied it on her mouth. The evidence found in the flat thus proves that Dr Das is the conspirator and the murderer and Banalakshmi is the erstwhile actress who was his helpless accomplice.(13/14)
