Film TitleCharulata (The Lonely Wife), 1964, India, Bengali
Scene DescriptionAmal readily adapts to the role of the younger brother whom Charu pampers by mending his torn shirts, making his paan and embroidering his shoes. More than a brother, she sees in him a partner who allows her to exercise her agency upon him. On his insistence, Charu and Amal share a literary endeavour based on a very innocent pact - they will only write for each other. (5/14)
