Scene Description Bamun-didi probes Chutki about the source of the rice. Chutki answers that she paid a visit to Jadu in the kiln. The Brahmin wife is taken aback that hunger could take a woman to such lengths. When asked if she'd like to have a share of the rice, the wife refuses. Chutki unabashedly tells her to keep her reservations and walks off. (17/24)
