The world seems to be opening up to the 13 year-old Swetha as she takes her first hesitant steps into adulthood. One day, she discovers that her uncle Guautam is leading a secret life. He transforms into a woman every night. When Swetha confronts him, he wants to run away from home and get married to Aravan at the annual Koovagam Festival in a small town in South India. This is where people of the third gender gather to ritually reenact the story of Aravan'. Swetha embarks on a journey to find her uncle and bring him back. In the process, she discovers a whole new world, a new culture and new friends - those of the third gender - whom she tries to understand. 'Aravan, son of Arjuna and Nagakanniga in the Mahabharata was to be sacrificed. But he wanted to marry. Since no woman was willing to marry him and become a widow overnight. Lord Krishna assumed the form of Mohini (the most beautiful woman) and married him. Hence, the third gender believes itself to be the reincarnation of Lord Krishna.
