Body of Work

Sombat, an old-fashioned, middle-aged taxi driver, is set in his ways: he only listens to golden oldies on his favourite radio station and hates fast technology and violence. One night, a young and pretty massage-parlour girl, Nual, gets into his car. She makes a deal with him to give her regular rides to work. Soon, their relationship blooms into friendship. She reveals her dream of owning a bridal shop. Meanwhile, he writes letters to his favorite DJ in the hope that one will be read on air. He muses on how he and Nual perform similar services for clients, helping them reach their destinations, then continuing on their way. He also visualises himself and Nual as characters in old Thai movies confronting roadblocks to love. In his attempt to find ways to finance her bridal shop, he loses all his money in a fraudulent marketing scheme. Now, his own life begins to resemble a melodrama….
