Lage Raho Munna Bhai2006
Introduction
Lage Raho Munna Bhai (2006) adopts a new aesthetic of theorization and interpretation for Gandhism in the present socio-cultural context. The film revives Gandhian thought through entertainment, by hybridizing it with Bombay cinema's gangster genre coloured in a comic hue. The Mahatma is depicted through the prism of a local Mumbai gangster Munna, who has embraced the core of Gandhism with an obvious twist of his understanding of the present-day world. Munna uses the neologism of Gandhigiri which is founded on the tenets of 'truth', 'fearlessness' and 'non-violence' to find ethical resolution of his conflict with the property mafia in his city. An apparition of Gandhi appears before Munna's eyes to briefly advise him on how to guide common citizens in dealing with their daily strife.
फ़िल्म के दिलचस्प कथानक में कुछ ऐसी परिस्थितियाँ बनती हैं कि मुम्बई का अन्डरवर्ल्ड डॉन मुन्नाभाई अपनी दुनियावी समस्याओं के हल के लिए गांधी के विचारों की शरण में पहुँच जाता है और गांधीवाद के मूल सिद्धांतों को आज़माता है। मुन्ना की अपनी समझ गांधीवाद के कुछ आधारभूत मूल्यों को नवीन कार्यात्मक प्रयोगों में अपनाकर 'गांधीगिरी' नामक एक नए ही पदबंध में बदल देती हैं। पर गौर से देखें तो मुन्ना की यह 'गांधीगिरी' सत्य, अभय और अहिंसा जैसे गांधीवादी सिद्धांतों पर आधारित है। मुन्ना के मस्तिष्क का 'कैमिकल लोचा' उसे गांधीवाद को एक नितांत नए परिवेश में पुन:परिभाषित करने का मौका उपलब्ध करवाता है। वह इन साधनों का प्रयोग करते हुए अपने शहर के शक्तिशाली प्रॉपर्टी माफ़िया से टकरा जाता है और समस्या का एक अहिंसक और नैतिक समाधान निकालने की कोशिश करता है। फ़िल्म में दिखाया गया है कि मुन्ना के मस्तिष्क में निर्मित गांधी की एक कल्पित छवि उसके सामने प्रकट होती है। इसे फ़िल्म ने 'कैमिकल लोचा' नाम दिया है। यह छवि मुन्ना को सीख देती है कि साधारण लोगों के रोज़मर्रा के जीवन संघर्षों में कैसे गांधीवाद से हासिल औज़ार कारगर हो सकते हैं।
