Body of Work

Bhavna Dayal, a young professional photographer, is unwittingly sucked into uncovering the truth behind a sensational high-profile murder. The victim was once her best friend, the prime suspect was her boyfriend, and now she seems to be his alibi. Kal deals with the emotional and ethical conflicts in Bhavna's mind and with the contradictions of the changing society of which she is a member. There is a pun on the word 'kal' - it can mean yesterday or tomorrow - and it is suggestive of the film's subject: a murder thriller that reflects on the past and casts shadows on the future. Kal takes a realistic look at the upper-middle class, well-connected youth of urban India and examines both their dark and their human side.
