Body of Work

A divorced mother and her son living in England, return to their home in Sylhet after fifteen years abroad. The former husband has just died in Bangladesh. Their journey takes them back to their roots. The mother faces the situation with an air of nostalgia, remembering the good times of her youth in old Dhaka. On the other hand, the entire culture is totally new to her son. In a broad sense, the film deals with dislocation in any part of the world. Metaphorically, it becomes a journey of an inner quest. Through the dual perspective of a mother and son returning to Bangladesh, Homeland touches on the complex themes of identity and multiculturalism. It is the first film to be shot digitally in Bangladesh.
