Body of Work

Two people, who are barely friends, decide to get married in this satiric comedy. Gamila, who is in her early thirties, dreams of emigrating to New Zealand. She makes a living buying and selling used goods. One day, her wheeling and dealing causes her to cross paths with Youssef, a fix-it man looking for more profitable work. Gamila has discovered how hard it is for a single woman to get a visa, while Youssef wants to strike out on his own. The two agree to a marriage of convenience — they will marry, move to New Zealand, and split up once they are doing well enough to get along on their own. Gamila's mother is thrilled to see her daughter getting hitched, regardless of the circumstances, but her support just makes matters more difficult for the new couple, and things do not turn out as expected.
