Introduction

Chandi Sona (1977), Produced and directed by Sanjay Khan, the film featured an ensemble cast including Sanjay Khan, Parveen Babi, Premnath, Pran, Ranjeet, Danny Denzongpa, Asrani, Paintal, Kamini Kaushal, and Iftekhar, with a special appearance by the legendary Raj Kapoor.
Dedicated to Sai Baba, the film is a treasure-hunt adventure set on a remote island, where a motley group embarks on a quest to unearth riches buried within the tomb of Shahenshah Chandi Sona. Disguising their operation behind the purchase of a house with a swimming pool, they secretly dig a tunnel beneath the tomb. Among them are stage performers Mayur and Rita, who join the heist with dreams of gold and jewels. As the plan unfolds, the group encounters an underwater pool and brings in expert divers to aid their mission. However, what lies within the tomb proves to be far more mysterious than mere treasure—a hidden creature and the ominous secret motives of the house owner deepen the intrigue.
The film's music, composed by R. D. Burman, features a memorable soundtrack that includes Uljhan Hazaar Koi Daale, Rukte Kahan Hai Dilwale performed by Kishore Kumar, Asha Bhosle, and Manna Dey; Aap Sa Koi Haseen Dilruba O Dilnasheen by Kishore Kumar and Asha Bhosle; Socha Tha Maine To Ae Jaan Meri by the same duo; and Tujhe Bhoolke rendered soulfully by Mukesh. The haunting beauty of the Jeita Caves in Lebanon served as the backdrop for the sequence featuring Uljhan Hazaar Koi Daale… Ni Ni Na Ni Na.
The production also acknowledged the Indian Navy for providing technical guidance in filming the underwater scenes. Despite its exotic locations, high-profile cast, and adventurous storyline, Chandi Sona struggled to make a mark at the box office.

चाँदी सोना (1977) के निर्माता और निर्देशक संजय खान थे। इस फ़िल्म में संजय ख़ान, परवीन बाबी, प्रेमनाथ, प्राण, रंजीत, डैनी डेंग्ज़ोंगपा, असरानी, पेंटल, कामिनी कौशल और इफ़्तेख़ार जैसे कलाकार काम कर रहे थे जबकि शोमैन राज कपूर ने इसमें एक विशेष अतिथि भूमिका निभाई थी।
साईं बाबा को समर्पित यह फ़िल्म एक खज़ाने की खोज वाली रोमांचक कहानी पर बनी है। इसका कथानक एक सुदूर द्वीप पर बसे शहंशाह चाँदी-सोना के मकबरे के नीचे दफ़न खज़ाने की खोज के बारे में है। एक अजीबोग़रीब किस्म के लोगों का समूह इस दौलत को खोजने के अभियान पर निकलता है। अपने अभियान को दूसरों से छिपाने के लिए वे एक स्विमिंग पूल वाले मकान को खरीदने का बहाना बनाते हैं और फिर गुप्त रूप से इस मकबरे के नीचे सुरंग खोदते हैं। इस समूह में रंगमंच के कलाकार मयूर और रीटा भी शामिल हैं जो सोना-चाँदी और जवाहरात पाने के लालच में इनके साथ जुड़े हैं। पर जब उनकी योजना आगे बढ़ती है तो सुरंग के भीतर उन्हें एक जलमग्न कुंड का सामना करना पड़ता है। वे मदद के लिए विशेषज्ञ गोताखोरों को अपनी टोली में शामिल करते हैं। लेकिन मकबरे के नीचे ख़ज़ाने से कहीं अधिक रहस्यमय चीज़ निकलती है। वहाँ एक गुप्त जीव मौजूद है और इसके साथ ही उस घर के मालिक के खतरनाक इरादे कहानी को और गंभीर रहस्य में पहुँचा देते हैं।
इस फ़िल्म के लिए संगीत आर.डी. बर्मन ने तैयार किया था और इस फ़िल्म में कुछ यादगार गाने शामिल रहे जैसे किशोर कुमार, आशा भोंसले और मन्ना डे का गाया “उलझन हज़ार कोई डाले, रुकते कहाँ हैं दिलवाले”, किशोर कुमार और आशा भोंसले के गाए युगल गीत “आप सा कोई हसीं दिलरुबा ओ दिलनशीं” और “सोचा था मैंने तो ऐ जान मेरी”, मुकेश की दर्दभरी आवाज़ में और “तुझे भूलके” जैसे गीत। फ़िल्म में लेबनान की रहस्यमयी और सुंदर जेत्ता गुफ़ाएँ “उलझन हज़ार कोई डाले, नी नी ना नी ना” नामक गीत के दृश्यांकन में पीछे दिखाई देती हैं और फ़िल्म का अभिलेखीय महत्व बढ़ा देती हैं।
इस फ़िल्म की निर्माण टीम ने पानी के नीचे फ़िल्माए दृश्यों की शूटिंग के लिए सही तकनीकी मार्गदर्शन प्रदान करने हेतु भारतीय नौसेना का विशेष आभार जताया था। लेकिन विदेशी लोकेशनों, उच्चस्तरीय कलाकारों और रोमांचक कहानी के बावजूद संजय खान की चाँदी सोना टिकट खिड़की पर कोई ख़ास छाप छोड़ने में असफल रही।
