Body of Work

Based on a controversial novel written in the 80s; Calcutta Unabashed deals with the angst of the city's youth; caught between the lures of a new liberalised society and fast-fading traditional norms. Biresh is a junior officer in a finance company. At heart he is a bohemian with no rigid values in life. In love; he is caught in a relationship with Nita; a high society call-girl. In his office; his position becomes bleak as he refuses a loan to an influential person despite being offered a bribe. He takes to drinking and visiting the red-light area. Meanwhile; he is attracted to Iti; a model. One day; in a bout of anger and self-destruction; he commits a crime… Calcutta Unabashed is a bold film that looks squarely at the options young people give themselves and suffer as a result.
