The sacred hair was in the posession of one Syed Abdullah, who came to India in 1111 A.H. from Medina and lived in Bijapur, in south India. His son camr to Delhi along with the holy relic and sold it to Kashmir trader, Nooruddin, who brought it to the Valley. Initially, it was kept at the Khanqah (hospice) of Naqashband Sahib in the heart of the city, where thousands came for a glimpse of the relic..
