Founded by Mulk Raj Anand in 1946 with support from J.R.D. Tata and the Tata Group. Marg (an acronym for Modern Architectural Research Group) Magazine, published its first edition in October 1946. Its initial goal was to serve as a kind of "loose encyclopedia of the arts of India and related civilizations." The magazine focuses on a comprehensive and holistic view of the arts, architecture, and cultural heritage and practices of South Asia, with a special emphasis on India.
